I try to give the media liars a chance to regain some of their lost credibility once in a while. Last night was a golden opportunity to do that. Result, opportunity lost.
Last night all the networks gave the President an hour of primetime air time to sell his healthcare bill. It was an incoherent rant that promised the world, but delivered no details (this is a reoccuring theme).
The media liars never hold this guy accountable for his promises. He has broken many of his key campaign promises (don't wait for Katie and Brian to tell you which ones), but how about the promise that all bills will be posted on the internet for 5 days before voting, so the people can read them. This administration has shoved through bills so fast that congress can't read them, let alone the public.
Any of the media liars could have called that press conference exactly what it was, staged drama full of misrepresentations. But true to form, they let you down.

Buck Up
President Obama recently said that members of congress need to "buck up" and pass his national healthcare bill. Since the media liars won't tell you what "buck up" means, I will.
The President's call to action was caused by news that a few so called "blue dog" democrats fear their support for the President's healthcare bill will hurt their reelection bids in 2010. They know that their constituents are largely opposed to national healthcare and they fear a yes vote for healthcare will put targets on their backs.
So, "buck up" means, go ahead and vote yes for the healthcare bill and we (Obama and the DNCC) will spend as much money as we need to and make as many personal appearances as we need to, to get you reelected. Further, this means that we will use all of our resources to destroy your opponents.
See, they know that enough TV commercials and smear campaigns in October and November can make you forget how your elected officials stabbed you in the back in July and August. Now you can start to see how a group with a 13% approval rating manages a 90% reelection rate.

Congratulations Minnesota!
The junior Senator from Minnesota announced his presence in congress today. He brought this nugget of wisdom to the table "are the words birth control in the constitution". He felt compelled to ask this question during the Sotomayor conformation hearing.
Well Mr. Smally, how about you actually read the US Constitution and tell me. Then you can tell what that question has to do with anything.
Way to go Minnesota! Then again what do you expect from the state that elected a steriod shooting, 9-11 denying, professional wrestler as governor.

Air Space Schmair Space
In case you missed it among the endless Michael Jackson coverage, our President got his teeth kicked in by Putin last week.
The media liars will be reporting "what a great job he did" getting Russia to let us use their air space to deliver supplies to our troops in Afghanistan. They're reporting a savings of $133 million per momth by using this air space. That's great, I love saving money. But at what cost?
What they won't tell you is that he gave up way too much to get it. Something like one third of our nuclear arsenal.
The real nugget here is the fact that Putin will yank the air space use the first time we challenge them on their inevitable actions against Georgia or Ukraine. Worse yet, we may not act.
It was reported that Putin was thrilled when Obama won the election. Now we see why.
I hope Rosetta Stone doesn't run out of Russian CD's. I'm not even done with the Arabic one yet.

I'm taking a break
No blog entry today. The media liars are taking the day off from anything important (like our Vice President's severe case of verbal diarrhea) to pay tribute to a man who's music touched our hearts and who's hands touched our young boys.

Real Change
I don't know many politicians. Those I do know, I don't particularly care for.
62 million people voted for "Change" in November. Supposedly included in this change was a new kind of politics and new type of politician.
Well, this new type of politician spent 15 months running for President while the business of his state went undone. This is the way that Senators and Governors have run for President for decades. Doesn't sound like change to me.
Last Friday we learned that another politician is stepping down from her post as Governor of our largest state. We may never know the real reason. But, if it has anything to do with wanting to ensure that the business of her state doesn't go undone while she campaigns on the taxpayer's dime...then that sounds like "Change" we all can believe in!

What happened to 95%?
Over, and over, and over again Barack Obama promised that 95% of Americans would not see any kind or type of tax increase if he were elected. Only those ruthless villains "the rich" would need to cough up some more of their ill gotten gains.
Did your media source happen to mention that 56% of cigarette smokers fall below the poverty line. They probably left that part of the story out when they were celebrating...Err uh...reporting on the $0.61 per pack tax increase that Obama passed in the first few months of his presidency.
I'm sure at some point the media liars will start telling tou that "of course he was only talking about federal income taxes" when he made the 95% promise. But you are smart enough to know that a politician with a law degree from Harvard doesn't leave anything open for interruption. He just knew that he could make any promise, regardless of reasonableness, and the media liars would never hold him accountable for it. Sad thing is, he was right.

Noah, stick to making bad TV movies
Nothing frustrates me like having a bunch of "has been" actors interrupt my evening TV time with their Lie-Fommercials about the plight of the Polar Bear.
You won't hear this from Katie & Brian, but the world's current Polar Bear population is around 24,000. I don't know if that sounds like a lot to you, but guess what...its the highest since record keeping started.
The reason the media liars won't tell you this... they need to use the lie about the extinction of the Polar Bear to get you to sign off on this dangerous Cap & Trade bill. (GE, the parent company of NBC, stands to make billions under Cap & Trade because they're the largest producer of wind turbines)
Oh yeah, something else you won't hear on the evening news...95% of all species of animals that ever lived, are already extinct.
Man did't kill the dinosaurs.
